Best drive to store games?

Solution
You don't need anything fancy to only store games installation files, these are just some files that will stay on hold until you decide to use them, just get a normal drive with 7200 rpm and 64 MB cache (1TB-2TB), hard drives like Velociraptor is used to install games on them to play or work on huge video projects, if you're going to install the games on your 250GB SSD then you'll be fine, so the bottom line is:

INSTALL GAMES >> SSD
STORE GAMES ISOs >> Any Hard drive with 7200 rpm and 64 MB cache

Good luck.
If you have the money for a velociraptor, skip the HDD and get a 250GB Samsung Evo or Evo Pro SSD and put your games on it. It will set you back around $170.

It will be faster than any HDD and cost less and generate less heat than the velociraptor. You will definitely appreciate the fast load times between scenes/maps.

I really don't know where there's a market for the velociraptor drives since SATA II SSDs were released.

I'd get the WD Blacks then. I don't think the velociraptors have ever been worth the cost even with a/v recording and production. They were more of a 'I have the fastest drive' bragging rights type of product before SSDs were introduced.

That being said, to answer your original question, the velociraptor is definitely a faster drive, though in my opinion, not worth the cost especially if you're on a budget.
