Hello,

I recently got a new ssd since my old HDD died.

I am looking to do a fresh install of my OS (to my SDD) and start from scratch.

The problem is that whenever I go to install my OS (windows 7) it says: "Windows cannot be installed onto this Disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the Computer's BIOS menu."

So I unplugged everything that wasn't needed and changed my settings to AHCI mode and installed the drivers and it still doesn't want to install.

I verified that the SSD works, I booted up windows in my old HDD and it recognized the SSD just fine.

I don't know what to do now as this is the first time I have ever dealt with a SSD before.

There may be a long gap in between the times I post as I might get busy soon so I apologize for that.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you! :)

Solution
Are you using a Win7 disc?
If so set CD/DVD as first device in boot priority.
And long as the ssd is plugged in you should be good to go.
When finished installing OS change boot priority in bios to ssd .

I just got done installing windows and had no problems.

Such an easy fix that I would have never thought of.

Thanks again for the help! :)
