I know alot about computers already. But what i'm not 100% sure on is if on the z87 chipset 4x4gb is slower than 2x8gb. from my understanding it will be an unnoticeable difference and shouldn't matter. the only reason i am getting 4x4gb is because i am shallow and think it looks nicer with all slots filled. I have an asus sabertooth z87 and an intel i7 4770k.

Nope, there won't be a difference. The Z87 Chipset only supports up to dual Channel memory bus architecture, so it just comes down to what you like/what's cheapest. Any configuration (of the same RAM sticks) of 16GB of RAM made up of dual channel kits will be the same speed.

I hope that helps!
