I have Windows 8 and like an idiot I updated to 8.1 BIG mistake. But even worse I thought a factory reset would get rid of 8.1. It seemed to work at first and updated 90 updates. Next day 12 updates will not work. Keeps repeating: failure to update reverting updates!! Yikes! I have windows 8 but no way to update. What do I do now??

I would say backup your data and re-install windows. It sounds like your computer is trying to install updates for 8.1, but since you technically have 8 they are failing. If you have no way to reinstall windows, bite the bullet and update to 8.1 again.
