I need help here. My house came pre-wired with ethernet connections in all rooms that converge in a box. I connected the "DM" cable to my Cable Modem and then I connected my cable modem to a TrendNET switch's first port. I have a TrendNET wireless router connected in a room's wall jack which is connected to the second port of the switch. That works perfectly. Anything else I try to connect to the other ports on the switch will show the error on the Subject line above. How can I fix this issue and get internet in all ports? Thank you for your help.

sorry i'm trying to think but not sure what this box would look like.

There needs to be a router after the modem so it can assign valid ip addresses to the connected devices, thats the first step. Then down the line you can add another router(wireless) or switch.

Thank you for the response. So that is the only way? My thing is that the space inside the box is very limited and it is in a corner of the house. My router also gives me wireless internet and I want to get a good signal in all the house, while also the router would not fit inside the box. What small non-wireless routers options are there that I could fit inside this box and make this work? Thank you.
