Hey guys,
My brother was moving a couch and dropped it on his laptop. I am now charged with reviving it. Took it apart, and everything looks okay. However when booting cant seem to get past the initial boot screen, computer just restarts. So I figured the issue must be bad data or sectors in the hdd, as when the laptop was running I didnt hear the hdd skip. I tried putting his hdd into my Asus G75's secondary hard drive bay to see if my computer would recognize it so I could run diagnostic and try to recover the data. I simply plugged it into mine, and powered on. It doesnt seem to show up in windows explorer. Am I doing something wrong? Please advise as to what to do next.

the hard drive could have failed completely.

look in your computers bios and make sure the setting is set to auto detect the hard drive on that port. (the port could be disabled so that's why windows cant see it). if it show the drive in the bios then it should show up in windows. if its not showing up in bios then the hard drive could be dead with no chance of recovery.
