When you add graphics card, the onboard video is disabled on dell optiplex 7010. How can I enable where I can have 2 VGA monitor hookups?

well first off, when you add a dedicated video card, you are bypassing the on-board graphics and telling your computer to use the installed card. technically you can use both at the same time, but its very specific to the proc your running. Second, does your graphics card have more than one output? i.e. dvi, hdmi, vga? or combinations of each? if so just use 2 of the ports on the video card. if not.....

depending on what processor you have, if your using the newer Sandy bridge, Ivy or Haswell processors, the there is a solution ....Windows will allow using the two graphics controllers at the same time, but the only dual display mode available is "Extended desktop". If you want to do any other display options like "Clone display" you will have to connect the the two displays into the video card.

to do this you have to make sure your settings in your BIOS are set to "always enable" for the video card .....onfiguration tab>video>integrated graphics device> set to “always enable” and depending on your bios if it gives you the option you want to do the following

1. set integr video to Always Enable

2. set Primary video to Intel integr

if your proc is older than the above, your out of luck as far as i know. your going to have to either get a card that has multiple display outs, i.e. a vga,dvi and hdmi or 2 of each. OR double check and make sure you don't already have it on the card you installed.
