Do nvidia 3d glasses work without a 3d monitor?

Hi I want to use nvidia's 3d feature but I am not completely sure if my monitor is compatible, it is not 3d. I have the hp 2310m. My system specs I am pretty sure are compatible but my monitor I am worried about. Can I use these 3d glasses with my monitor?

Awww that sucks, I was hoping to use 3d. I really like asus monitors so if I were to buy a 3d ready one which would be best option? Is there a big difference between led and lcd, what is the difference?
