i recently purchased a netis WF-2111 150Mbps Wireless-N USB adapter for my desktop.
but for some reason it seems to have serious connection issues only on my desktop.
when plugged into my desktop my speed fluctuates wildly between 1 and 10 Mbps and frequently has trouble connecting.
however if i plug it into my laptop and disable the internal wifi, it seems to easily get 25 - 30 Mbps when i put it at the same spot.
on lan my internet speed is about 55 Mbps.
both OS are windows 8.1 with the desktop being pro.
my desktop motherboard is a gigabyte ga-970a-d3 rev. 1.4
my laptop is an asus vivobook x202e-DH31T
my router is a D-link DIR-601
in all cases usb is usb 2.0
i dont seem to be able to get reasonable speeds on the desktop but it seems to work perfectly fine on my laptop. any ideas as to what might be wrong?

thanks for the response. ive tried plugging it into all the usb ports on my desktop, including on the top and back and the usb 3.0 ports.
i get the same results.
however i have noticed a new symptom.
every now and then when i lose connection itll still show connected status and go up to full bars. then after about a minute of not responding itll make the usb disconnected sound followed immediately by the usb connected sound and ill have internet again. when this happens my portable hard drives main folder pops up as if id just connected it as well.
so it seems this issue is affecting all my usb ports. though i havent noticed an issue with my mouse or keyboard (both usb) but maybe thats because it only disconnects for a split second. its only happened since i got this wifi adapter.

I had this issue with the asus AC56, by unistalling my USB drivers using device manager i was able to get the latest drivers for my USB 3.0 slots and that fixed the problem. I also had flashed my bios to the latest version, maybe for your case you can unistall the USB 2.0 drivers and they will automatically reinstall when you restart you computer
