since today my gpu is reaching 80degrees C and is making sound more than normal, while playing battlefield 4

i know that high sound is normal when i play games at 1080p and at ultra(4XMSAA), but i think that it is more than usual and temp is also going 80-82...

im playing BF4 for quite some time and never reached 80 C or more even i play for like 4-5hrs straight

My drivers
AMD 14.1...not mantle, im playing at DX11(because i was getting 20fps drop with it)

is it normal or i should be afraid

MY SPECS
hd 7950 boost 3gb
i5 3570k
8GB ram

I think that this is due to the fact that 14.1 driver is not properly optmised for your card, as well as for my R9 280x (to be dune in future releases of the driver).

The loud noise is the speed of the fans on the GPU, trying harder to cool the card.
Uninstall the driver, and go back to the previous vertion. I think this might fix it for you. This tutorial might help if you want to do it correctly: http://www.overclock.net/t/988215/how-to-properly-uninstall-ati-amd-software-drivers-for-graphics-cards

seems like a heck of a job and risky too...
can't i just install 13.12 driver, without having to go with all those steps

Tbh, I think you should rollback the old driver first.
I even noticed that my card does worse in other games since the 14.1 update.

In AVA, a FPS I`m playing, I would always get stuck at 200 FPS (max), and now it always fluctuates between 120-200. It`s not bothering in any way, but for me this is proof that the new driver is not properly optimised for the R9 and HD 7*** cards at this point.

Well, they did state that the HD7*** and the R9 cards are not optimised in this version of the driver, and that this will be done in the future versions.

If they would have said: "Here it is! All optimised and improved", and then perform the same, or a bit worse, than I would get a bit upset.

At this point, I wanted to test Mantle in BF4 and Star Swarm, but I can just roll back my driver if I have any issues. The previous version works like a dream for me.

But why release driver updates that dont include any enthusiast series card optimization? (R9 and 7xxx seriez) To me thats dumb. The r9 series and 7950/7970 cards are extremely popular if not the most popular cards right now especially from amd and they release unfinished un-optimized driver update? Pffft poor planning IMO.

Modern cards are designed to actually run at some pretty high temps and 80C is not going to hurt your card. However if the card never hit that temp before you should look for what changed recently. First thing I would do is make sure the heat sink on the card is clean and your case airflow is not restricted. Next if the only change you made was to put on the new drivers I would look to remove those and roll back. You could also use your card's manufacturers utilities, SAPPHIRE has TRIXX, to adjust the fan profile a bit and see if that helps.

80C is not an OMG temp yet so you should be okay. However as I stated if the card has never hit these temps under the same load before I would look for the cause. Either cleaning the heatsink or see if there is a rise in the ambient room temp. Something caused the temp to increase and it is just a good idea to figure out what.
