Hi guys,

Yesterday my new build parts came in the mail. I put everything together, and I realized after all was said and done that I had a flaw..

My two cards are on top of eachother, and the top card (primary) reached 100c at the menu screen of Payday 2 after 5 minutes.

What can I possibly do to lower this cards temp?

Build specs:
CM Storm Styker Case
i7 Haswell 4770k @ 3.5ghz
32gb G.Skill Trident.X 2400Mhz (@ 1866Mhz)
2 XFX 7970 Ghz edition (primary is new revision)
H100i corsair liquid CPU cooler
BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z87X 3D LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
1 x CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular

Yes they run a bit hot, I used the bottom card before standalone for about a year, it never got above 74c with stock cooling.

Both are running stock cooling from AMD.

I think 100c is more than a little hot though :(.

Make sure you have as much airflow as possible moving through your case. You may need to add fans, or replace existing ones with better fans.
You might also switch the positions of your two cards and see if there is any difference, and you can use CCC or a program like Afterburner to manually adjust the fan speeds on your cards.

It looks like I can fit 3 120mm fans to the right of the cards (on the outside of the HDD cages). Should these blow on the cards? Will this make much of a difference?

I realized now that yes, a mobo with a space probably would have been a better option :(. Any other thoughts the help me work with what I have?

I already tried using CC and keeping all fans at 100%, it barely helped.

I can't, those are the only PCI 16 lane slots.

Onus, I appreciate the replies. Could you please recommend high quality, high air-flow white fans (not sure the size, the ones, the same size as the ones to the right in the picture).

Thanks!

Thanks!

I ended up getting 3 of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BWEIFU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hopefully this solves my problem. Thanks all for your suggestion and help, I really appreciate. I'm sure you'll hear from me tomorrow whether or not the fans helped.
