Hello, I recently built a brand new pc, and did several upgrades on an older pc, and now i have them both running side by side :) ....

In the older / upgraded pc, I installed a new SSD, samsung evo 840 pro, which now contains it's operating system (vista x64), the computer also has a 1tb hard drive (hdd), which used to contain the operating system (Also vista x64), this older 1tb hard drive is almost full capacity with programs and files and still contains the old install of the vista operating system - I want to use it as storage for old and new files and keep some of my old programs or less used programs on it.

Alot of the files on the old hdd I want to keep and i want to keep them all where they already are on the old HDD, and some of the programs cannot be reinstalled again due to lost product keys and so forth, so i need to keep them as they are as well.

But I want to remove the old operating system and get rid of a lot of the programs i dont need on there anymore from the 1tb hdd and basically just retain the file setup that has all my documents and the programs i cant replace so that I can use the files, and the old programs, in the new operating system on the SSD.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Or tips to get started trying to manually clean up the old drive?

I basically want the old drive as clean as possible, just containing the things that I want to keep on the new system and get rid of everything else, i want to get rid of the unnecessary stuff left over from the old OS.

I can only tell you what I would do and that is to offload items I wanted to keep to an external drive and then reformat the old HDD. You can then move the offloaded items back to the reformatted HDD if desired. Also, I would not put anything important on an old drive without a backup plan.

paragon is great just read the directions first you can move and copy partitions and programs, it is 15-30 dollars and very reusable, also winzip utilities suite can do similar and restore erased partitions and programs, you have tohe same OS I do not see a problem transferring the programs to the new OS
Thanks Matt
