For times when I don't recover using the full system image, I might recover back to factory settings.

Is there a way that I can save my current Windows 8 settings and load them to the same notebook after the factory settings recovery?

I am using Classic Shell which allows me to backup many settings but not all that I need since I need to set various things myself through Windows. Mainly non start menu settings.

I do not need to backup applications or user folders. I basically want to save settings for:

Display (desktop & folder colors/sizes/etc), folder options, power options.

I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me the path (not the search for "xx") to the correct software in Windows 8. I am using a classic menu so I presume control panel to start?

Also, if there is a recommended freeware to do this.

I am using an ASUS S300CA just in case ASUS also has something related to this backup.

I doubt you can do much; it's probably too tied in to the registry and Windows.

However, I would recommend just taking an image of your HDD with a clean install of everything you want on there. Restoring this is far faster than a fresh install, normally.
