i have got myself a new 2tb caviar black internal hard drive. as for the specifications its shown 138mbps as write speed. but when i cpoy a file i hardly get around 20 mbps....:(
i tries benchmarking the drive using ATTO and also crystal disk manager. both show read and write speed arounf 120mbps while benchmarking. but y isnt it showing the same speed while copying files???
i see no difference between my caviar green and caviar black's copying speed...:(

Solution
A green drive should be able to read faster then 20MBps. What's the system made up of? You said windows takes a long time to boot, is it free of virus?

its nearly the same on both the hard disks.(black and green)

i tried copying from green drive to black.---averaging 20 to 30mbps
from black to black also gives more or less the same result.
but sometimes it goes upto 70mbps for sometime(like for 20secs) and then comes back to 20 again.
what could possible be the problem?

if it matters-
my windows is installed on green hard drive.
since the last 2 months my windows takes around 2 mins to boot.
i dont know if this information matters.

A copy is only as fast as the slowest device you are copying to/from. You need to copy between similar drives or use a disk utility like HDTune or HDTach. I'd trust your ATTO results over a windows file copy. Also, copying from/to the same drive will have skewed results.
