I bought a pace 4111N gateway from AT&T to use as a modem and router for DSL service. I've recently moved and changed ISPs. Can I still use the gateway as only a router, without connecting it directly to the internet? If so, how?

Solution
It depends what you want to do. You can hook PC to this device and you can then share files. Obviously if it has no connection to the internet the machines can only access each other.

I'm really sorry. I understood none of that. Could you explain it to me as though I were your pet cat please?

I'm also looking for an answer to this question. Since it would require ethernet for both the modem and computers you're plugging in, I can see why they would say it would be more of a switch, but I'm not at all sure how to configure it and have been scouring the internet, and these responses are not helping. It's definitely not plug-and-play, and I'm wondering if it might need some kind of firmware update or custom firmware flash, because when I go to the gateway IP it just says that it can't find the DSL connection.
Any help would be appreciated!
