I am trying to get the best performance out of existing items and recent purchases and just wanted to make sure that I am getting the best I can. I like to play the game MechWarrior Online and can right now but I want to get my system slightly stronger for better performance and possibly more types of software being run in the future. I am thinking about getting into photo and video editing soon (lightweight not heavy professional, just home video stuff but I dont want to wait hours).

Currently I have 4x2gb DDR3 PC3-10600 RAM, i5-3470 CPU with stock cooler, 500 gb WD 7200 RPM hard drive, all in 1 card reader (says like 45-in-1 or something), USB 2.0 x 5 (1 on all in one reader, 4 on back panel), USB 3.0 x 2 (on back pannel), Win7 64 bit ultimate.

I purchased a 4gb module of same speed RAM for a different computer and it has the same CL as the 2gb sticks that I have right now, but it is a different brand. I also purchased a 4gb stick of the same brand I have of the 2gb sticks with same CL (CL9 on all sticks). If I pull out 2 of the 2gb sticks and put the 2x4gb sticks in, what are the chances it will work in Dual channel? If not, how much of a loss am I looking at in performance?

Is CAS latency and CL the same item? That is what I was under the impression of. So it will work if the CAS Latency/CL is the same, or is CL something else?
