Gtx 780ti sli problem on Asus z87-Pro

So yeah, I have a issue with my gtx 780ti sli setup, Only one of the cards will show up on device manager but both of the start up with fans and both of them have the 6+8pin power connectors pluged in. Please help me i have tried everything i can think of i even tried with my old motherboard

pc specs:
i7 4770k
asus z87-pro
2x msi gtx 780ti gaming edition 3gb
Kingston 1600mhz ram 12gb
Corsair rm1000w Psu

Relax and refrain from testing, by removal of high-end components to test in another system. And banish the word RMA from your memory(your probably already looking into it).

It's highly likely it will be something simple; like you didn't enable SLI in the NVidia control panel or a setting in the Asus UEFI (nice board by the way).

Read the few pages in your owners manual on SLI.

There is a option to enable SLI on the mobo bios, after its enabled go to nvidia CP and enable sli. Then restart PC and let windows detect both.

Does each card work by itself in the PCIEX16_1 slot?

When you install the second card in the PCIEX16_2 slot is it fully seated in that slot?

I would say thay are seated correctly since fans on both cards start up when i start up the system, If thay are not correctly places in the slot the fans don't work, Do you have another thing i could try? Im kinda running out of opitions here :S

I would suggest breadboard testing by removing, assembling and testing everything outside of the case. This allows you to be able to see if the second graphics card is indeed fully seated. If everything works then you place it back into the case.

In theory you should be able to install a single graphics card in the PCIEX16_2 slot only and it should work. Give this a try first. If it doesn't work then I would suspect there's something wrong with the motherboard's PCIEX16_2 slot.

Holy shit that actually solved it!, However now when i go into device manager one of the gtx 780ti got a yellow ! aside it, You know how to solve this?

If you look at the Resources for that device with the yellow exclamation mark sign what is listed in the "Conflicting device list:"?

One thing I would suggest is to follow the instructions in your motherboard manual on how to properly "Clear RTC RAM (3-pin CLRTC)". This should force the motherboard to re-enumerate all installed hardware and resolve any device conflicts.

It says Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

It says this device is not using any recourses because it has a problem

The PCIe x16_2 slot's IRQ (i.e. Interrupt ReQuest) is shared with the PCIe x1_2 slot, Bluetooth Controller and ASM1061 Storage Controller.

If you don't use any Bluetooth devices with your PC and you don't have any drives attached to the ASM1061 Storage Controller (i.e. the two dark brown SATA ports) you can disable them in the UEFI BIOS Utility to free up the shared IRQ for the second graphics card.

ASUS UEFI BIOS Utility - Advanced Mode

Advanced menu ===> Onboard Devices Configuration

- ASM1061 Storage Controller (SATA6G_E12) <=== change to [Disabled]

- Bluetooth Controller <=== change to [Disabled]

Make sure you have the latest motherboard BIOS Version 1707 installed.

I would suggest trying a fresh install of Windows. There may have been an automatic critical update that was installed that is causing the Code 43.

If you decide to try the fresh Windows install make sure you don't allow automatic updates until you determine that you can get the second card working without the Code 43 error and 2-way SLI working too.

It appears you're not alone with this problem, you can find several with a simple search,

From what I'm reading, most seem to be a conflict with integrated graphics.
The 4600 HD on your i7 needs to be disabled. And I'll keep reading, this is enough to drive a person crazy...

Thanks to ko888, at least now you can easily reproduce this error. Plus you have a sub$tantial investment in those GPU's. Maybe you can get a live MSI tech on the phone.

sorry to pop in but tompa nothing is gonna get solved by you getting upset.
I got upset at some things and found it was a simple mistake I missed out on, I felt so stupid, when you get mad you loose a bit of concentration.

Now I'm not saying you missed out on something but you could try retracing your steps.

Switch the GPUs,the GPU is slot 2 into slot 1 and same for the GPU in slot 1 and try again, this is just a suggestion.
