Chipsets for upgrading.

Hello. Is it possible to upgrade intel chipsets for a better CPU?
I was wanting to get at least a i7 3770 for more power because of new games and such coming out soon. Any help appreciated.
I have an alienware m18x if that helps.

well you can't get upgrade just the chip set, the whole mother board needs to be swapped out. You have to buy a mother board with the right socket for the CPU and with the right chipset for your needs.

I can't do that on a Alienware M18x though cause it's a gaming "laptop" right?

Oh i didn't even realize it was a laptop, in that case you cannot do anything with it. Money is better spent put towards a desktop.
