samsung ocz ssd

I have the 128 GB Samsung Pro and I love it. Highly recommended!

I also have 2 OCZ SSDs that are unusable in my system because their Sandforce controller is incompatible with the Intel Z87 chipset. I'm never buying anything OCZ again!

They no longer use the sandforce controller. They use a proprietary controller developed in house called barefoot, i think thats it. Anyway, its proven to be a good controller and is probably why Toshiba was quick to grab up OCZ. The Vertex 460 already has the toshiba memory in it. I had a pair of vertex 450s and they were very fast and quite reliable.

Heres a review of the 460 its apparently the first result of the toshiba takeover. http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/6027/ocz-vertex-460-240gb-ssd-review/index.html

If its an older Sandforce controller then these may not "like" the new Intel Z87 chipsets. The 1st gen of any SSD controller had compatibility issues and imo i thnk the SSD makers didint work collaboratively on this to provide the best results for the end user. However, I haven't heard any such issues from the recent second gen SF-2281 sandforce controllers
Though backward compatibility support is great i feel sometimes while upgrading to the newer hardware prolly saving up a bit more and going for the latest would make sense as it will help take advantage of the newer technology.

Yes good, I know ssd is 250gb system show 230 this is right with all hard drive. from 230 after format ssd has been used 30GB ? why any idea thanks

The difference is in the measurement of one GB. Drive makers advertise one GB = 1,000MB. Windows uses one GB = 1,024 MB. Your formatted capacity should be 232.5 GB.
