Hi,

I'm using a slightly older system and I'm now trying to overclock. I'm using the following:

Gigabyte 880GM-USB3 motherboard
AMD Phenom II 1055T
CoolerMaster CPU heatsink/fan

I can't overclock much. I am able to keep my HT and that other thing at 2000 and my memory clock at 1600 which is the stock speed.

I then set the multiplier for my CPU and even when I try 2800Mhz, it doesn't work and I have to Clear CMOS. I have tried faster speeds as well but it doesn't work too.

I have read on older posts that people with the same hardware have been able to overclock it to 3.6Ghz or even more.

Can anyone please help? Thanks.

Here's a good video guide for you.

Things to consider: Voltage on your RAM for going that fast (causes a lot of issues), disabling C1E low power states in BIOS, using a high (200) base clock, and a low multiplier ratio to get a feel for what the board can handle. I used to have the intel version of that board (P55-USB3) and it was a terrible OC board.
OC is an art more than a science, but not all processors are built the same, and your ability to OC does decrease as the CPU gets older. Just because someone else was able to OC at 3GHz doesn't mean your CPU can physically handle that same OC.

I'm actually using a high clock base of 400 and then adjusting the multiplier for every thing else. I have never tried voltage and I don't know how it works.

But I'll watch your video anyway. Thanks.

Hi, I'm hoping someone would read this. I just want to add that even if I overclock everything to default/stock speed, it would not work. As long as I overclock, it would not work. I don't understand why.

I also realized that there is no beep sound when I boot up my PC. This has been going on for a few years now.

I just can't believe I can't overclock my PC. It should work.
