Hi, My name is Douglas. I have been searching for about a month now, looking for a good Full HD video camera. I don't really want a camcorder, unless you can find one that has stunning results. I need something with shallow depth of field for a "film" look. I have a budget of about 200 dollars, but if you can find something better, I am willing to go up to 250-275 dollars. I have looked at the Nikon 1 J1, but I am not exactly sure if it is a good camera. I have also looked at the Sony a3000, but it is not worth it for the price. The pentax Q looks okay, but I can't find a test video that shows its full potential. Please help, and respond ASAP. Thank you.

Hi Douglas - If you want to be able to produce image quality like this:

Shallow depth of field like this:

And timelapses like this: might want to consider the Pentax Q, on closeout for less than $200 from Kenmore Camera via eBay. As of this post, there are only 3 left at this price.

The Q will give you much better image quality than you can get from a camcorder in this price range. And, when budget permits, you can buy more lenses to create effects and "looks" that help to tell your stories better.

Hope this is helpful!
