Will this SAS hard drive and controller work on my Desktop?

Someone recently gave me a brand new Seagate 300gb Cheetah SAS drive and a Dell SAS adapter. But I have not used this type of equipment before and was wondering if it will work in my regular desktop?

I am confused because the ports are diffrent sizes. Is this adapter only for servers?
