sony vaio hard disk problem

If there is no recovery partition on the drive then you will need to contact Sony for an install disc. Is this a new hard drive or the one that originally came installed in the computer? Since the space is unallocated it seems as though this is a new drive unless you deleted the partition(s) in which case the space would appear as unallocated.
