mixing ram help!

hi! i have a 2 gb corsair xms3 ddr3 stick and i want to add an 8gb one too:

could i add this or will it mess up my system? is this setup better or is it better to get 2x 4gb and have 2gb less overall but two identical sticks? thanx!

motherboard- p5p55d-e asus
cpu- intel i5 750

most cpus like it better when you don't mix the ram. sometimes you can cause system instability (depending on the cpu you have, the whole amd k10 lineup really hates mix and match) and you certainly will limit your overclocks.

Could try, but no guarantee they will even play together - would suggest going 2x4GB and be sure of 8GB in dual channel, then see if you can add the 2 and get them to play nice, if any troubles give me a shout

I think 2x 4gb is better due to dual channel memory.

It shouldn't mess up your system though.
