Hi there. I've been running dual monitors for a while now. I decided to get an HDMI to Mini-Display port cable so that I can use my television as well. It's detected and all but when I try to use all 3 monitors it will display the message "unable to save display settings". However, when I switch to one of my two old monitors + my new 3rd monitor it works. So basically each display works when they're being used only two at a time, just not 3 at a time. How can I run all three at the same time?

My setup is:
1st monitor (ASUS) DVI -> DVI 7870 port
2nd monitor (HP) DVI -> MiniDisplay 7870 port
3rd monitor (Insignia TV) HDMI -> MiniDisplay 7870 port

I have the MSI Radeon HD 7870

My first thought is the Eyefinity gotcha that one of the three HAS to be a display port to work properly... And/or the RIGHT type of converter (active, not passive). But this is just my first thought that I've seen a lot of with Eyefinity issues.

From the sticky on this forum:

YOU MUST HAVE ATLEAST 1 MONITOR CONNECTED VIA DISPLAY PORT
For an eyefinity group you can have a MAXIMUM of 2 of the following connections (DVI, HDMI or VGA) after these 2 all other monitors MUST be connected via DISPLAY PORT.

You can do this 2 ways. either by having monitors that natively support display port or using an ACTIVE display port to DVI - Single link adapter
See examples below

Mini DSP to DVI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
DSP to DVI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

NOTE: Eyefinity 6 edition cards (6x Connectors) can still only have 2 DVI, HDMI or VGA, the remaning 4 connections must be Display port or use an approved adapter.

I had a similar problem. Believe it or not, what fixed it was unplugging and replugging in the monitor power cable (removing power and restoring power) to the monitor while it was connected to the computer. Some computers will detect monitors but will get out of sync, and won't re-sync properly without power-cycling the monitor. Good luck and I hope this helps.
