Hello

Recently I bought an Alienware 14 with the base Geforce gt750m gpu. I have upgraded mobile gpus in the past and was going to do it with this computer. I was going to upgrade to the GTX 765m, but I was wandering if there would be any problems if I went one step up to the GTX770m. The GTX 765m is rated at 60-65 watts and the GTX 770m is rated at 75 watts (notebookcheck.net). I figured that if the GTX 770m were compatible with the Alienware 14, they would have made it available as an upgrade option when purchasing the notbook.

So basically would this 10 -15 watt difference of power consumption be too much for the Alienware 14 or would it be able to handle it?

Thanks.

It is hard to say but 10-15w difference could mean the difference in cooling temp that is for sure. But as said until it is tried it is really hard to tell for sure. Personally I would not push it beyond the cooling limit of the laptop rating to be on the safe side. You can't add a fan to cool off a laptop if it gets to hot.
