Hello, I recently bought a geforce gt 640 graphic card but when I install it into my computer (dell vostro 200) my bios comes up but after that I get a black screen. I looked all around and the things people suggested I try is disable my onboard graphics, update bios, and change PCI to pcie in bios all which I have done. The computer I am installing the card in is a dell vostro 200. The computer does still have the stock 300w power supply in it and I know the cards minimum is 350w. Is that the problem or what else could it be. Thanks for your help.

Computer specs:

Intel core 2 duo e8400

4gb ram

1tb wd HDD

300w stock psu

Your power supply is garbage.
The pc goes into bios, then in windows the graphics drivers kick in and the gpu starts to draw power.
The power supply fails to keep up and the system crashes.
It works for a time, but nobody wants to buy a new one.
Buy a decent psu or take the card out.

I finally got a better power supply which is a corsair cx430 but when I install the geforce gt 640 I still get the black screen

I don't know what the cause is, but someone else on the forum is having the same exact problem:

You might keep an eye on that thread as well and maybe try some of the things mentioned there too.
