okay before i start i am not going to be using the IGPU in the APU it will be disabled in BIOS, i am going to put an msi r9 270x 4gb edition gpu into my pc, but i am unsure wether or not to purchase the 6800k or the 7850k? i have heard kaveri isnt really living up to its potential in anything that isnt using mantle on bf4. My motherboard is a gigabyte f2a88x fm2+ so it is compatible with both APU's (i am going to overclock) i cant find anyone who has a clear answer for my question anywhere please help?

I don't see any reason to get a cpu with a powerful igpu just to disable it. The Athlon x4 760k is the same as the A10 except it's igpu is disabled from the factory and it's much cheaper. It may be worth the wait for Kaveri's Athlon series. Kaveri hasn't exactly been a flop, they are much more efficient, and they did improve on AMD's poor single core performance(IPC). The only thing is, the 7850k is downclocked about 10% from the 6800k.

the build is looking something like this

case - AVP wolverine inverted atx
motherboard - gigabyte f2a88x d3h
psu - corsair 600w modular
Gpu - msi 4gb ddr5 r9 270x
RAM - 8gb corsair vengeance 2133mhz
2tb 3.5 7200 rpm sata HDD
3 120mm cooling fans

although you recommended the athlon it still has not answered the question of which APU is better in pure performance of the 3 W/ the GPU stated above

I would get the A10 6800k because it's more cost effective, unless you want a copy of battlefield 4. It looks like right now the 7850K is priced in the neighborhood of $170 and is bundled with a copy of BF4. The A10-6800K is priced around $130. The performance is about the same. For the Kaveri generation of processors (7850K), AMD improved the IPC performance a little bit, but then also decreased the clock speed by a similar amount. In the end, the CPU portion of Kaveri and Richland A10 performs about the same, but Kaveri is more energy efficient.

I would go with the A10 6800k. I got the kaveri 7700k (similar to the 7850k) and my computer wouldn't put out display from either the apu our either of my gpu's. The mobo did not come with the updated BIOS necessary to use the kaveri. In the end I would have had to buy a cheap CPU to boot it, update the bios, then swap out the cpu back to the kaveri and return the other one I had purchased. I decided to just go with the 6800k and have been very happy with it. Going with the 6800k may save you a lot of headache, especially if you decide to purchase online.

i want the option of the IGPU in circumstances where lets say my gpu is faulty on delivery and has to be returned or it breaks down, thats why i want an A10 series not an athlon on top of that my gpu wont get here untill the 3rd of march my cpu will be here by atleast the 15th february i want to get the pc up and running maybe play some minecraft/marvel heroes untill my gpu arrives i know the kaveri has what is sort of between an r7 250 and an r7 260 (an r7 255 if you will) an igpu unique to the APU but the 6800k seems to have more power to performance ratio sed only as a CPU?

well the igpu isnt powerful. it is only good for 720P. in terms of cpu performance go for the 6800k because the processing power of the kaveri is disappointing. if it is not equal on processing power it is only faster maybe max 10%. even cpu world doesnt say a 7850k is faster than a 6800k http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/479/AMD_A10-Series_A10-6800K_vs_AMD_A10-Series_A10-7850K.html

cpu boss http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-A10-7850K-vs-AMD-A10-6800K faster but not that much.

pls you can overclock a 6800k and get better performance. the price of kaveri cpu are not worth it.

go for the 6800k or even 5800k as it is also cheaper.

Definately the 6800k. Highest clock performance out of the options on the table, which will help when your graphics card arrives, and the onboard graphics are surprisingly good and will serve you better than you expected providing you have the 2133mhz memory.

The higher memory will also help offset the lack of l3 cache on the APU.

The 7850k is really overpriced at the moment unless you are going to be only using the onboard gpu and want bf4.

i decided to go with the 6800k for the 4.1 base clock and can say i am not disapointed in its performance, solid 60 fps in minecraft on servers in high traffic area's, waiting on the release of the r7 265 then my mining rig will be complete

Go with the 7850k, it preforms a bit better on the cpu side than the 6800k, also dont get the 4gb, it will be a waste of money unless you are playing at resolutions above 1080p, the extra 2 gb actually slows down the gpu by an average of 3 frames unless you are playing above 1080p.

not true, the x4 is equal to the 5800k

clock speed means nothing, the 7850k is slightley better on the cpu side even thou is is slower, best thing to do would be to get the 7850k and overclockit to 4.1GHz or higher.

I agree, but i would go with the i5 4430, only 5$ more than the 7850k and can be upgraded to a 4670 4770 or xeon chip later.

Get the 7850k, it is slightley better on the cpu side even thou the clock speed is lower and the athlon 760k is actually the 5600k without the igpu

EDIT: the 7850k is also a slightly better overclocker
