I have a Corsair C600W PSU that I stuck in my new build just a week ago. But tonight, the fan started making noise. It's not a crazy amount of noise, and only a little audible above the other fans, but it's definitely not correct. It'll go silent for a while, then suddenly start rattling again, then go silent again. Anyway, I RMA'd with Newegg, but when I calculated the shipping cost is says it'll be, get this, $18. After discounts and rebates, it only cost me about $32 to buy in the first place (around $70 normally). For less than the shipping cost, I can buy another 120 or 140mm fan and just replace it myself without two weeks of downtime on my new machine. I have technical skill, but I haven't taken apart a PSU before. Is it doable, or are these things Fort Knox to get into? I checked and the fan IS spinning, so should I even worry about it? It's only noise, no power losses or heat (so far).

Solution
yes any good case fan will work, just make sure and check the ends of the fan you are buying with the fan ends in the case, i.e. molex 3 pin/4pin or directly soldered onto the PSU board. Do this before you buy, here is a decent link for replacing it, its not hard, just be sure to avoid touching the capacitors with a metal object.
