Ok so when I built my PC last month, I got an Asus VG248QE 144hz 1ms TN 1080p monitor to pair with a GTX 780. When my friend built his PC, I got a bit envious over the fact he went 1440p and a 780ti and now I'm considering selling my monitor for a 1440p monitor. What do I do: sell the 1080p monitor and get a 1440p monitor or just keep the 1080p monitor and calibrate it so the colors come closer to the correctness of IPS? Here are the 1440p monitors I've been looking at:

If you are mainly gaming, the 144Hz monitor will give you a really smooth picture in games and everything will feel a lot better when gaming, while if you get the 1440p one, you might not be able to run all games at good framerates because of the big resolution. I have a BenQ XL2411T which uses the same panel as your Asus and the colourls look ok to me. You can always look for some calibration settings on the interenet and try them out.

Unless you get a calibrator, calibration is worthless. The monitor should be precalibrated to the average for that panel type, so chances are that's more accurate than a random sample.

I'd stick with the 144Hz screen, unless you need more real estate.
