Hello Again,

So just for clarity something like the...

1. The (2GB) XFX Core Edition Radeon HD 7750 w/ DDR3 SDRAM & PCI Express 3.0,

or

2. ASUS HD7770-2GD5 RADEON HD 7750 2GB-GDDR5 128 BIT PCI-E 3.0 2XDVI 1XHDMI,

or

3. Any other graphics card out there that's DDR3 or GDDR5 w CPI EXPRESS 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0

will work properly even in my very, very old Gateway 840 GM - Media Center Edition computer (DDR2 / PCIe 1.0 x16) with Intel 945G Express chipset & 4G RAM ???

I have to be sure... I'm obviously not very computer savvy and for me, esp right now, a $100 +/- is still a lot of cash that I can't afford to waste.

Thanks Again, Justin

If you are still running XP it wont utilize direct X 10 or 11. It is also unlikely to run with modern cards even with later operating systems. The processor is a 2 X pentium 4 chip. So, buy a second hand 7800 gt, 7800gtx, 7900gt, 7900 gt, gtx, whatever is cheap. More than $35 is too much. Dont go below a 7600 gt. This will run at 1020x 768
at decent rates but will look a little console-ish, if dx9 couldnt be called that across the board already.

Ok, that helps. I'll do some more research on those particular video cards. Do any have DVI or HDMI output?

I'm trying to run the signal to a HDTV & I'm trying to get Starcraft II to run on this old pc.

On the Starcraft II box it recomends:

1. NVIDIA GeForce 7600gt - 8800 gt,

or

2. ATI Radeon X800 XT - HD 4850 or better

But again for my computer... I'm not sure what would be the best or what would actually work properly.

Justin

PS - I'm going to upgrade my OS to Windows 7, but still running windows xp till March
