Hello nice tom's hardware guys! I'm from India.
I need help with a problem of mine. I built a PC last month. It was all fine and I could max out most of my games. But I am unable to get online on the PC. I have a BSNL Internet Modem which I used on my laptop to connect to the Internet. It runs perfectly fine on my laptop but its not running on my new PC. I installed all the drivers given in the motherboard cd and downloaded some from the motherboard website. Still the issue persists. When I insert the modem to the usb port I noticed the modem doesn't actually go in fully like my usb storage drives. Also it says it is plug and play so any kind of driver installation window is not showing. After saying 'Initializing' for a couple of mins, it says 'usb not detected'. What could possibly go wrong here? It goes fully into the usb port in my laptop and works fine. And btw, the pc is as follows - i7 3770K, 8 gb g skill sniper 1600 mhz ram, wd green ( slow i know) 1 b hdd, dell st2240l 21.5 inch monitor, asrock extreme6 z77 motherboard, cooler master haf 912 mid tower case, gigabyte geforce gtx 660 ti 2gb gddr5, win 7 home premium.
i didnt buy any nic thinking internet connection would be built in the motherboard. thanks in advance for any help :)

I assume that you already tried a different USB port, right? Also, did you try to remove the drivers that are installed automatically in device manager and install the drivers from the CD? If the modem has a cable that can be disconnected, do you have another cable that you could try?

Looks like you have either a faulty USB Port or a corrupt USB driver. I suggest deleting the USB drivers from your PC and installing it again after a fresh download. You can download the drivers from the AsRock Website - http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=Z77%20Extreme6&o=All
