Hi,
I've noticed that my 3dmark score on Firestrike (default) for physics is pretty low for my processor. Every test I've seen with the same cpu (stock clock) has at least 7500 if not 8000 and I'm getting 6000-6700. I haven't overclocked but I know from these comparisons that I should be getting quite a bit higher. Even 3dmark says "Your CPU doesn't want to play"...
Here are some screenshots of the best result I've got and a recent one:

I've made sure my RAM is at the correct frequency and that turbo boost and speedstep are enabled (despite 3dmark thinking they're not), I'm really not sure what could be causing this to be so low.
I can post some more info if needs be.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On a serious note maybe you're overheating. Check your temps while running the benchmarks and see also make sure you set power in the control panel to high performance

I have a Hyper 212 Evo and my temps never go more than 60 degrees so that shouldn't be an issue. I'll try the high performance power option
Thanks

I ran with max power and no difference, score 6600.

Is the speed of your RAM. I tested it today. I got 2x4GB GSKILL 1866Mhz on dual channel.

I OC using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and setting all multipliers for 1,2,3 and 4 active cores to 38 so it stays at 3.8Ghz all the time.

I only change my RAM speed in the BIOS.

Here are my results changing my RAM speed.

Core i5 3570k @3.8ghz 1066mhz RAM : Physics Score = 6848

Core i5 3570k @3.8ghz 1333mhz RAM : Physics Score = 7248

Core i5 3570k @3.8ghz 1600mhz RAM : Physics Score = 7507

Core i5 3570k @3.8ghz 1866mhz RAM : Physics Score = 7779

Core i5 3570k @4.2ghz 1866mhz RAM : Physics Score = 8300
