I plan to build my own computer but i am new to this stuff so i came here for help :D.
here is the list of components.

intel core i3 4130 or intel dual core G2020 - processor

CORSAIR VS650 650W - power supply

SEAGATE 1TB 7200RPM - hard drive

GSKILL RIPJAWSX 4GBx2 1600MHZ -RAM

MSI Z87-G45 GAMING or ASUS Z87-K or GIGABYTE GA-Z87-D3HP - MOBO

Radeon 7790 graphics card.

RAIDMAX SEIRAN - case

Here are some questions.

Which is better the i3 4130 or the dual core G2020?

Can i lower the power supply to 500W?

Which is better a double 4gig ram or a single 8gig ram?

Which is the best motherboard of the three i picked? (if u know another mobo that has high quality but the same or lower price)

PS. I intend to use it for gaming and auto cad. i can't use a better processor because considering how many hours the PC is being used, our electricity bill will sure skyrocket.

Budget: 900$

To address your questions:

I don't have either processor but from the reviews I've seen the G2020 seems to be a better buy.

Power supply wattage depends on the total load at _startup_ - it takes more power to start up equipment than it does to maintain them running once powered. So find the startup power of each device including mobo and add 20% for headroom. More headroom is better because it will be a lower relative load to the power available. That will give you longer PSU life.

4g X 2 RAM will enable dual channel operation so is better than 8g X 1.

I've seen a lot of posts here recently about problems with unscheduled shutdowns on MSI mobos but they were never really shown to tie directly to the MSI part. All the same, I would...

All the same, I would shy away from MSI just because of that. I like ASUS but, on the other hand, never used a GigaByte so that's kind of a toss up for me. And keep in mind I use AMD processors.

One other thing I would note is that the Seagate consumer hard drives recently received poor grades in durability, i.e. length of service. I would go with a WD.

Hope that helps some.

If you're gaming then go for the MSI z87.... it has pretty good feedback on that section.
For OC then gigabyte z87.....
Asrock is not a bad choice either!!

your PSU should not be lower than 650w.

double or single ramb is up to you.....

Intel core i3 is definitely better than the dual core G2020 in term of the technology....
