Hello

i need some help

if this is a wrong section, guide to the right one

i Have decent laptop , not high end but good yet i can't play any games

laptop specs:
Dell
GPU: nVidia GT 525M
CPU: i5 2410M @2.30 Ghz
Ram: 4 Gigs
This cpu has a Intel® HD Graphics 3000

Windows 7

Resolution :1366x768

it runs minecraft on the lowest possible settings with an average of 25fps and dips frequently making it unplayable .

in TeamFortress 2 , nVidia GeForce Experience Recommend the highest settings yet it's unplayable on the lowest.

and in the Graphics menus of TeamFortress 2 , the game Recommend the highest settings too.

Terraria has the same problem too, average of 30fps and it dips when fighting.

any help is appreciated

Thanks in advance

While the 525m isn't a high-end card by any means, it can definitely play TF2 at 1366x768. My old laptop with a G310m could play TF2 just fine.

It sounds like the display drivers are not properly handing off 3D to the nvidia card, and are instead using the HD3K. Have you udpated nvidia's drivers? Or made sure that you actually have the nvidia drivers installed? I don't recall if they still use the "optimus" branding line for drivers for hybrid discrete/intel combinations, but that might be the nomenclature to check for on the nvidia site.

Sorry to say anyone who told you this was a good laptop for gaming outright lied. The installed graphics card is woefully inadequate for gaming at anything over low settings. Given that it's a laptop, it's highly unlikely there is anything you can do to significantly improve performance. Sorry for the bad news.

Thank You.

the problem was that the laptop was using the Intel HD Graphics 3000 as a gpu for the games by default

form nvidia control panel go to "manage 3d settings" under "global settings " and there you will see both cards ,choose high performance gpu

minecraft plays just fine on some high settings although it dips from time to time

again thanks for taking the time and making my life better :)

i did not buy this laptop for gaming, bought it for general use.

anyway, these games are not demanding by any means, let alone on lowest settings :)

that's way i was asking .
