Hi. I just installed my new Corsair H100i and the pump is very loud. I have been reading posts all over the Internet with people complaining about the noise of this device. But the sound mine is making is not the same as most people describe. A lot of these discussions evolve into the issue being fan noise or fan issues. This is not the case here. The fans put out significant air flow while remaining very quiet.

The noise is definitely coming from the pump and is not a clattering, broken sound such as have been described by others, or uploaded onto youtube. I cannot upload a video for reference here, but I can use a simile that is just as good.

As I was here in my computer room trying to troubleshoot issues with this noise, my girlfriend asked me if I was in here shaving. She honestly thought I was in here with an electric razor. And that comparison to the noise this unit is making could not be more accurate. It sounds like a loud Norelco.

I have it installed correctly and it is cooling my CPU at least 25 degrees more than the stock cooler. I meticulously checked and rechecked everything before powering it on. Then have been troubleshooting issues by plugging the fans into the motherboard instead of the pump, switching around USB ports, updating the firmware to v1.0.7 and changing settings in Link. But it still sounds like I am tending to a five o'clock shadow.

Is this supposed to make this sound? If so, I don't think I can stand it. Please let me know if this is normal. And if not, what could be the problem. Thank you.

It's definitely not normal. On mine, the fans were too noisy for me (I'm now using the fans that came with my HAF XB EVO on the radiator), but the pump is pretty much silent. I presume you've already tried running it with different fans or no fans to completely rule out the possibility of fan noise, and the performance you describe indicates it probably isn't a loose mounting. I suggest you see if you can get a warranty replacement for it.
