So I recently upgraded my computer with:
Asus m5a97 r2.0
AMD 8350 black
Kingston Hyperx blue (2x4gb)
Everything else is the same as my previous working computer.

When I boot it up, it Posts with 1 quick beep then displays the Asus splash screen that says press del or F2 to enter bios. Pressing/holding either of those gets me nowhere.

The next screen up has an "American Megatrends" logo on top, and it displays text with my motherboard, cpu, memory, USB and ATA/ATAPI devices.

Oddly it says I have 2 keyboards connected.

Anyhow, at the bottom it says "Please enter setup to recover BIOS setting. Press F1 to run setup"
And of course F1 does nothing here.

I can press Ctrl+alt+del and it reboots the computer, So it doesn't seem like my keyboard is the issue (I ordered a PS/2 adapter to try to rule that out anyhow, couldn't find anyone with a ps/2 keyboard here)

I've tried the keyboard in all the USB slots.

I tried removing the CMOS battery and unplugging it and letting it sit after hitting the power button.

I've tried the directkey button on the motherboard that should take me into bios, but it just functions like the power button basically, and takes me to the same screens.

I've tried updating the BIOS via USB with the button on the motherboard (correct port, correct file name) and the LED will just blink for 5 seconds then go solid (indicating failure acccording to manual)

I'm about out of ideas.

Just tried resetting the CMOS with the jumper, both with CMOS battery in and out as per Asus website, no luck.

BIOS version is 2006

Yeah I was wondering if that might be it. I have a fancyish microsoft one, I'll try to track down another. I was just thrown off by the fact that ctrl+alt+del worked but none of the other functions, should be able to get one at work monday.

Alright, so I got a basic keyboard, and I got a step farther. Still hit a wall though.

Now, I can press del/f2/f1 (depending what splash screen I am at) and the screen will actually go away like it worked. Then I am just left with a black screen, no bios.

My monitor is a 1920x1080 samsung LED tv, I'm wondering if that simply cannot display the bios (due to resolution?) so it doesn't work?

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I have the problem of not showing BIOS as my LCD only supports upto 1280x720. the bios window freezes in mine showing half of it. But I can't find any reason that it is due to screen in your case.

Post a picture of BIOS if possible to see what's happening.
