Hello,

I recently built a new pc with the AMD FX-8350 cpu / mobo GA-990XA-UD3
I am using the cooler master hyper 212 evo as cooler.
I overclocked the cpu to 4.5 and my multiplier is dropping all the time on CPU-Z
http://imgur.com/GSJfCSJ this is an image from the cpu-z.
Like you see the multiplier is 20.5 and it has to be 22.5.

Greetings

It is changhing all the time , somethimes to 7 all the time . between 7 and 22.5 and when I run prime 95 it drops between 17 and 22.5.
I want to have it 22.5 stable

AMD has a option in the bios that causes this on some boards.

Can you check and see if you have an option called AMD Application Power Management(sometimes called APM). Disabling this on other boards led to full clocks under prime, but disabled turbo so the mutli had to be adjusted to compensate.

I would also like to point out that in game testing, despite looking bad, the performance difference was quit minimal with this feature left enabled(saved about 15 watts at the wall as well).

Either way, try with that option off to see if it helps.

Yes I found that option and I disabled it it's now stable at 20.5 and at full load with prime 95 is it changhing between 17 and 22.5 my voltage is also not stable it is hovering now between 1.488 and 1.512 with a multiplier at 20.5 there was also an other option for power save but when I disabled that to my pc goes on and back off and then back on when I start it.

Ensure you have the latest bios for it. That same thing happens on many boards to be honest(old P5W DH did it before a bios update fixed it).

With a rather cheap 970 Extreme 3, it only does the on off on thing the first time(on saving the settings) if i remember right.

Unlikely, as long as you do as instructed it should be fine.

Many bios setups now have the option to flash from within the bios by placing the update image file onto a flash drive.

Only thing I can say for bios updating is make sure you are not overclocked when doing it and if you have a UPS, use it.

Aside of the on/off/on, does the system work as you want it to now?

Mine did this also...I think its cool and quiet possibly that causes this.

If you turn it off though, the cpu will only run at full multiplication. It may have been an energy saving setting in the bios...cant quite remember.
