How do I restore Windows 7 lenova notebook after installing windows 8.1 without original recovery disk

Okay first, unless you have specific websites that are locked (Internal Government, Military, websites) in a particular code for a specific set of tasks that are very narrowally defines, IE10 and 11 (the current edition) will work on all websites normally. You can also use Google Chrome or Firefox alternatively, and that would resolve that issue, there shouldn't be a need to receed back and may just be a 'setting' or a update you didn't perform to make the website 'work'. We can go over those too to help instead of this backtrack.

That said, if your dead set to go back to Windows 7, you can either BUY a brand new copy (good luck not on store shelves) wiping the drive with DBAN first and starting clean OR as I noted, contact Lenovo and...

If the laptop had a recovery disk builders application it may still be there and capable of building a recovery set on 2 or 3 DVD's

If not the upgrade will leave a c\windows.old and an option to roll back to how the laptop was just before the upgrade

When first starting your laptop you were informed to make backup DVDs. If you do not and you 'damage' Windows (which upgrading to 8.1 is not damaging your PC) you will need to call Lenovo and PAY FOR them to make then ship you a Windows DVD.

Installing Windows 8.1 is like any service pack before, why are you trying to do a system restore? You are required to upgrade to 8.1 to fix numerous issues in the 8.0 release for continued support by Lenovo and Microsoft.

I purchased and installed window 8 Pro.. I downloaded windows 8.1 hoping it wou;ld correct some problems. I have since discovered that I needed to go back to IE 9 for some of my common websites to work. I do not have my original recovery diisc since it was on the hard disk. Can I purchase a window 7 disc and install?

Ido not have the original recovery disc. I assumed that I could access the ne on my hard drive. My hard drive had a partition. When I loaded windows 8 Pro, It deleted the windows 7 recovery files. How do I go back to windows 7?

This can be also done via Support on thier website.

If any of this is too confusing, then please take it to a Mom & Pop Tech shop and explain the situation (including the websites your having issue with) and they can probably 'do it all for you' so you don't have to be overstressed by all the technical jargon / steps.

My friend had a Lenovo laptop and needed recovery disk contacted them by telephone and with in a couple of days they had posted them out to him free of charge ...may be worth contacting them ....good luck :)

Click the following link to a page with a whole lot of links of different versions of Win 7. They are direct links to Microsoft's Digital River site. Choose the one that can installed on your Lenovo; probably the English version of Win 7 64-bit Home Premium. It is an ISO file so it has to be burned to a DVD.

Your lenovo laptop should have a product key on the underside of the laptop. You will need to use that product to activate Win 7.
