Choosing the right monitor

Hi guys,

I'm having very big trouble deciding what monitor to buy. Here are my needs:

1. Basic usage (Internet, reading, Office, etc.)
2. Gaming (not so much ultra competitive gaming, but still, a fair amount of gaming of different kinds, both slow and moderately fast)
3. Watching movies (Blu-rays, streaming)
4. Occasional Photoshop usage, nothing pro

What I am aiming for:

1. At least a 27'' screen
2. Not more than 700 dollars for a 27'' one
3. High native res of 2560x1440

And then the questions/concerns:

1. Can't decide on the size. Is it worth trying to go for the 30'' screen? Is the difference in size that noticeable/beneficial? Do 30'' screens have noticeable problems that 27'' screens don't?
2. Of course, the brand and the model. I have been inclined towards the Dell U2713HM, but then there's this U2713H "flagship" stuff and how it's so awesome, etc. But then others say it's only awesome because of the extended color gamut and is only good for photo enthusiasts and will actually be worse for gaming and casual usage. Then there are the Viewsonics and BenQ's and so one.
3. What grey-to-grey timings are ok? 8ms? 6ms? 2ms?
4. To what degree input lag is relevant? Is something around 20ms "unusable"?

I want the best 27'' for my goals I can get (for that price) or a reason to go for a 30'' one (Dell U3014 is twice as expensive as the U2713HM, which is uncool).

Any thoughts?

Thanks for answering! I'm still looking around.

Does anyone have an opinion on Dell U3014? Is it a good monitor? For movies, gaming and general use? I know it's big which is good, but I'm concerned about the performance and artifacts (cross-hatching, backlight bleeding, ghosting, overshooting, etc.). Should I even consider it?

Also, I know ViewSonics's are not that well known, but apparently VP2770-LED is a very good monitor. Any opinion on it? Would it be better overall than a U2713HM?

I dont know for the ghosting because Im pretty sure there is a possibilty for ghosting on every monitor. If your looking for a really nice gaming monitor, the asus vx238h-w is perfect. I have it for xbox and pc gaming, I LOVE IT. 1 ms response time(saved me in nfs) beatuiful 23 inch screen and delivers really crisp images.
