Hi, lately I'm been trying to update my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop's drivers but I'm sort of confused. I've installed around 3 programs like RadarSync which tells me that many of my computer's drivers are outdated. They claim they can update them but of course I have to buy their software first which isn't happening anytime soon. But when I go into Device Manager and select the video card for example and I tell it to update the driver software automatically through my computer and the internet it says the latest drivers are already installed. On the HP website the drivers there are all worthless, I tried downloading one and it warned me before I installed it telling me that the version I was about to install was older than the one I already had. What the hell is going on? Unofficial websites have updates for the hardware and the original makers don't? Can someone please explain this to me?

Thank you.

Solution
Only ever use drivers from the manufacturer and not individually get them from HP. http://www8.hp.com/ca/en/drivers.html thats where you can find your drivers dont let windows search for them it only checks its own online database which is as concurrent as the manufacture. Dont take 3rd party drivers as there not verified and could be buggy or cause issues.
Don't ever use those driver update apps, they are all junk.

Most drivers don't need to be worried about unless you are really anal about it like I am, which I keep all my drivers up to date. The GPU is the only one you would have to worry about but that model of laptop from HP the GPU driver can only be updated by one from HP.

Overall, unless you are having some insane issue, don't worry about it.

Alright, thanks a lot guys. I just have one other issue. I'm running a Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family graphics driver, I went to Intel and it auto detected the newest driver, I downloaded it. Now my Windows Experience Index has dropped from 3.1 which was before the download to 2.2. The main areas its dropped is graphics and gaming graphics. Will this affect my computer's performance? Seriously, isn't updating supposed to improve your system? Is there anyway I can fix this or do you guys think it's not such a big thing? The version I had was a 2007 one and the one I downloaded is a 2008 one.

Thanks.

Ok. So I go into Device Manager uninstall the current version and then have it search for the latest one or have HP Support Assistant find one for me? I tried to do a roll back but it's not letting me, the button is faded out.
