Kingston HyperX 3k Problems?

Hello all,

I built a PC last year, and one of the parts is a Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB. As far as I can tell, it is performing perfectly.

However, my PC is telling me otherwise. Firstly, my WEI score has gone from 7.6 (processor) to 5.9 (SSD), and while I know this is by no means an accurate way of identifying flaws, it has still changed and I have no explaination why.

Also, iolo System Mechanic has flagged a warning on the SSD, saying "One or more attributes are close to failing, but none have failed." But when I expand the view to a full overview about 10 unnamed attributes have already failed.

Is there a problem here? If so, how do I check?

Oh, and CrystalDiskMark was getting very low Read/Write scores, much lower than the advertised 550 read and 520 write.

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. First thing is to make sure that TRIM is running on your machine, assuming you are using Windows 7 here is a decent explanation on how to do so: http://lifehacker.com/5640971/check-if-trim-is-enabled-for-your-solid-state-drive-in-windows-7 . If it was not enabled it would be best to enable it and leave the computer on and idle for 24 hours to allow TRIM time to work. Then you can rerun WEI to see if that improves the SSD score. If not, you can compare the SMART attributes against our details sheet here: http://media.kingston.com/support/downloads/MKP_306_SMART_attribute.pdf . The Description field in the table shows "Normalized Value Range" best and worst. If near the worst or out of range that would indicate issues with the drive. The HyperX 3K SSD is covered by a three year warranty and if faulty can be replaced under warranty.
