I'm trying to fix a laptop with some sort of Hard-drive problem. Not sure if it's a physical or software problem. I tried installing the hard drive into a working laptop and the issue was exactly the same, and the laptop in question worked fine with a different hard-drive.
The laptop boots up just fine and goes to the "wasn't shut down properly" screen. When starting up normally the computer will go through the normal windows load up but will display a black screen and allow me to see and move the mouse. The same issue occurs in safe mode.
Is the a way to solve this issue without a fresh OS install?
Is the hard drive a paper weight?
