All is in the title. I just bought and installed a maximus vi hero and I was wondering if I should keep using my "old" azen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 or use the on board sound card.
I have the same card. From what I can tell the X-fi Prelude 7.1 still has a better audio processing unit than the Realtek on-board.
Pretty impressive for a PCI card from 2007. On-board audio has come a long way though. I think it would be difficult to tell these apart in a blind listening test.
