Hi there Tom's Friends. Thanks in advance for your concern.-
I had a beautiful smooth windows 7 wireless connection. One of those little usb thingies with an antenna attached to it. TP-Link branded. It was really ok, it would connect automatically and no problem. The icon was the 'normal' one. You know, grey-green lines. It was shared with other wired computer at home, trough the onboard ethernet adapter. The other box had internet and worked really fine.-
I got one of those internals wi fi cards, Encore branded. Just to test if it worked I pluged it in and installed its drivers and stuff. Worked, no problemo. I therefore disconnected it, and then problems occured.-
One one hand, the icon is not the same anymore. I have a connection, but it is the gray lines with a yellow dot there, which is not the exclamation sign. So it begins with the ethernet connection icon with a red X on it, searches wifi connection, connects to it, and sometimes it stays the same, sometimes it changes to the gray-yellow dot.-
On the same hand, I cannot see the 'share' option tab. I had it shared, as I stated before, but I cannot change it anymore. It stays 'shared' on network connections, but cannot see the tab to 'unshare' it, just see the 'networking' tab. It is not shared anymore, though, for there is no internet in the other box like before.-
On the other hand, the onboard ethernet adapter is no longer available. It does not turn any light and neither appears on 'Network connections' anymore. I installed one internal pci card I had and it works, but the onboard does not.-
Last but not least, the connection would hang up and I have to reset the box, for the others pcs continue with both network and internet, meaning that the router is not guilty. After booting up everything works fine for as long as it wants, and looses the connection when she decides to.-

Any ideas? Help and advice is much appreciated, for I don't understand what happens, and of course, need the internet to work smooth again.-

Thanks! Regards!

Man, what is wrong with my question? 61 reads and not a single answer, neither an idea. Nothing.-
Already asked if there is something wrong with my post.-
Did not solved it yet, can anyone throw an opinion?

Thanks again!

I've had the same problem for weeks. This solution solved it. You must uninstall the "microsoft virtual wifi mini adapter". Its microsoft crap ware just sitting on your computer waiting to start trouble. THIS WORKED FOR ME. Sign in as your computer administrator...click on control panel...click on system security...click on device manager...all devices will show up on page...find "network adapters" and left click 2 times to show 3 drop downs....right click on Microsoft virtual wifi mini adapter and choose UNINSTALL...click restart....yellow dot will be gone.

I too have had this yellow dot hovering over my wireless icon for the past 2 days. Weird thing is although it says no wireless network detected I could still access the internet.

I just fixed this problem. You have to go into Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and sharing centre>Manage wireless networks.

In this screen you click on your network name and choose to remove it by clicking from the banner above your network name.

Restart your computer then once it has booted up click on your wireless icon (yes it will still have the yellow dot. This is normal) Then choose to connect to your network. Windows will ask for the network key/password etc and once entered you will connect to your network and your wireless icon will start to show white bars again. It works for me hope same for you..:)
