I'm looking to replace my HD 7850, have a budget of $300. Mostly play BF4, don't care too much about max settings, just want best bang for buck.

If you came back a few months ago, the R9 280X would have been the perfect card for your budget. But the price inflated. Quite a bite.

It's between the R9 270X and the GTX 760. The 760 offers more performance overall as I recall, and the 270X offers Mantle, which might be a huge bonus to BF4.

If you're just going to be playing BF4, then I'd recommend the R9 270X, it's under $300 and it should perform nicely with Mantle. However if you want to get something a little more expensive, but also more powerful, go with the GTX 760, it'll perform better than the 270X in non-mantle games, and is still under $300.
It depends on how long you plan to use whichever card you pick, and what other games you might want to play with it.

I'm guessing you meant the R9 270X, right? xD

And I agree with the above posts. If the only game you're really interested in is BF4, then the 270X would work great. If you're interested in a better overall card though, go with the gtx 760.

My personal preference would be to go with the gtx 760 though - I personally don't feel like mantle will be worth the difference in overall performance between the two cards. The 760 is also the best bang for your buck card in the 200-300 range.

Sorry should have posted this 1st
Current build is: i5 3450| Asrock Z77 extreme4| Cooler Master HAF 912| Cooler Master GX-650W| G-skill Ripjaw 2x 4GB DDR3 1600| Crucial 64G SSD| Seagate Barracuda 1TB| XFX Core Edition Radeon HD 7850 1GB
My current card causes black screen issues and I'm looking to replace it but don't want to limit future gaming

I just did this, went from a 7850 OC 1200mhz to a new card because it died. Frankly I first went to a 760 and it was really only marginally better than my OC 7850. Then I bought the 770 and it was definitely better, and somewhat future proof for a while. I don't really think there is any contest here, the 770 is the best card for ~300 at the moment. Get an OC version if you can swing it.

In that case, a 760 will be a better choice than a 270X, however, if you can manage a 770, It'll be well worth the extra cash.
