so i have a 1600 4gb patriot extreme chip, and without looking, i bought the exact same chip only at 1333, can I pair them in dual channel mode? i have them side by side and i show 8gb, if i try and pair them what can i expect? can i overclock one or underclock the other to make them perform better? I will eventually get another 1600 chip, but right now isn't be the best time to do so, what can i do?

Solution
Try with the 4GB in slot 1, closest to the CPU and the 2 in slot 2, if any problem booting, go into the BIOS, with 1 stick if need be, and raise DRAM voltage to 1.55 and the CPU/NB voltage to 1.175

Yes you can pair them and the differance between 1333 and 1600 makes very little (and unlikely noticable) differance in performance. my 16GB is actually two sets of 8GB DDR3 (one set being 1333 and the other being 1600)
