Hey,
So my graphics card recently died on my approx 5 year old system, it stopped coping with dual display (1 24" LCD, 1 40" LCD TV), but could do one or the either, from any port on the card etc. Just seemed like it was fried (as nothing else had changed for it to be not getting enough power etc).
Don't game or anything, just want something decent, so found a GT630 which seemed to be in all respects, many times beter than my old card (Gefore 8800 GTS. I also figured it was time to get a SSD, so I got a Samsung 128gb SSD (PRo Version) and re-installed Windows 8 onto that.
Apart from that, my system is quite old:
CPU: Intel Q6600 2.40GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte P35-DS3P
RAM: 8G DDR2
HDD: SSD as mentioned, 2 x Sata, 1 x IDE
Power: Corsair 450W
I actually thought the P/S was a 600W, so maybe this is the issue. But it DID work for years previously, before I added the SSD.
So my problem: new install of Windows 8 seems great and much faster from the SSD, but I am getting heavy scrolling lag in Chomre, changing windows in Windows Explorer, scrolling in general. Videos (xvid downloads etc) seem to play ok but a 960p GoPro video is skipping heaps of frames.
Thought a Graphics Card issue but have tried that, thought maybe my CPU is just dying but I dunno if they degrade like that.
I know is an old system, but all I want it to do is not lag when on internet/windows explorer etc. Im getting typing lag on some stuff aswell.
Any thoughts as the the cause of the problem? Thanks.
