Its for a Athlon 64 bit machine with 2gb ddr2 ram. it has to be Linux compatible because i can't afford windows (unless someone knows how i can get a supported version of windows for under $60)
You're not going to find a great graphics card for under $30. Anything you do find at that price point is either going to be out of date or non-functional.
If your motherboard's integrated graphics went out, it's likely the rest of the board is not far behind. While it's not cheaper to get a new core system (CPU, motherboard, RAM), it's definitely wiser.
a 30$ GPU will play graphically demanding games so poorly you will not find it worth it in the end. too much lag to be playable, yet alone enjoyable. as far as just displaying the operating system (no integrated graphics option) goes, a GTX 610 should be fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130815
