Take a look at the GSkill Tridents, the 2400 sticks are a good deal at the Egg and are great sticks - if all you are planning on is gaming, then anything above 1866 is a bit of a waste, but if you use your computer for multi-tasking, using DRAM centric apps like rendering, imaging, video, CAD, GIS, etc then you will benefit from the faster DRAM

I'm not particular about 2400k necessarily. I was just wondering if it would even make a diff with that set up past 1866

2400MHz is pointless. You just can't benefit from it.

I recommend either:
1) 1866MHz CAS9, or
2) 2133MHz CAS9 or CAS10

Keep in mind the CAS value is more important (proportionately), but again also that the CPU can't benefit from anything higher than the above.

Other:
1) I prefer the ASUS board, but that Gigabyte seems pretty good too.
2) 8GB is plenty for gaming. There is ZERO benefit to getting more except for Video Editing etc.
3) If you're set on 16GB I'd get something like THIS: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c9d16gxm

It's hard to match the GOLD colour for DDR3 RAM. Here's a set that's Black with a little RED for the Gigabyte board:

I wouldn't spend extra on 2400. It makes almost zero difference, so unless you're paying the same amount as you would for 1600/1866, I'd skip it.
